Brembo expands order processing with TecCom Ordering solution TecOrder for better customer relationships and greater efficiency
|
In June 2009 Brembo increased their use of TecOrder for order processing. The globally active Italian manufacturer of brake systems and components plans to connect its European customers first and is open to inquiries from worldwide customers. Already Brembo supports the exchange of orders and order confirmation notices; in 2010 traders will be able to take advantage of additional functions. |

Five decades with an upward trend
|
Already three years after the company’s founding in 1961, Brembo was the first company in Italy to manufacture brake discs for the replacement market. Thanks to its high technological standards the company became the leading manufacturer of braking systems for racing cars starting in the 1970’s; among others it supported Ferrari in Formula 1. In 1972 Brembo started to supply brakes for motorcycles and quickly became the best-known supplier of brake systems for two-wheelers.
With its innovative developments and high-performance braking systems the specialist company was able to convince premium manufacturers like Porsche, Mercedes and BMW. Since the mid-1980s Brembo is also a supplier for industrial vehicles, delivering to Iveco, Renault Industrial Vehicles and Mercedes, among others. |

Brembo has been listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1995. In 2008 5,800 employees worked at 34 locations – in 14 countries on three continents – achieving a turnover of 1.06 billion euros. Partnerships and shareholding in other companies have strengthened Brembo’s international presence continuously since 2000.
TecCom as a component of the new aftermarket strategy
Especially for the automotive replacement part market an extensive program of brake pads, hydraulic components and brake drum kits was added to the brake components. The goal of this new positioning is to offer the right product with the right technical features for each application, and that with improved customer service and support. The same high standards apply to replacement parts and OE parts.

In the course of optimising their customer service Brembo is counting on increased use of the TecCom ordering solution. Brembo has handled small numbers of orders with TecCom already since 2007. By the end of this year 20 customers are to be connected, raising the percentage of orders with TecOrder from 5 to 15 percent. Brembo wants to connect its European customers first, but all interested traders can be connected to the system.
| Nicolas de Gaudemont, Aftermarket Business Unit Director at Brembo, justifies the company’s decision TecOrder with the system’s many advantages. “We decided to drive order handling with TecCom platform because TecOrder is well-known and widely used throughout the aftermarket. With this solution it is easy and quick for us to improve our customer relationships. Large and small customers can connect to the platform without major IT investments. There is an additional advantage: electronic handling through a single system enables us to manage our internal processes much more efficiently.” |

Currently traders can place orders with Brembo and receive order confirmations using TecOrder. The messages are generated internally at Brembo in CAP format, in which they are sent to their ERP system (Microsoft Axapta). Messages to and from the traders that do not support CAP are converted to the required format, be it TXML, EDI or CAP, so that the brake specialist can communicate with all customers through a single channel. The great flexibility of the system, its ability to exchange messages in all formats, was another point convincing Brembo in favour of TecOrder.
Since the first positive customer reactions plans are to further expand the use of TecCom solutions. For 2010 Brembo intends to offer additional message types such as despatch advice notices. “Our expectations for the ordering system were primarily to use it to tighten the relationships with our customers. The positive feedback shows us that we are on the right path,” says Nicolas de Gaudemont in summary. “We are very satisfied so far and can imagine a future step with TecCom to optimize stock management together with our customers.”
