Tips & Tricks for TecLocal 3.0 – Update Your Registration Data and Compress Your TecCom Database
Do you want to change your TecCom registration data or make your database perform better but don’t know how? This edition of Tips & Tricks will show you how to update your own data in the TecCom network, how to change your TecCom password and how to benefit from compressing your TecCom database
By using the buttons “Administration” and “Extras” you can make the following settings:
- TecCom – change the information about your company that is used in the TecCom network
- Compress local database – reduce the size of your local database
- Compress application database– reduce the size of your application database

Because the tab “Profile” is only of interest to supplier installations and only suppliers can access it, it will not be covered here. Suffice it to say that it provides administration for TecConnect settings and connections to the merchandise management system.
TecCom
What you see after clicking on “TecCom” is the data saved in the TecCom network about you. Suppliers can see them. This is where you can change your address, postal code, city, telephone number, fax or e-mail address. You can also enter your full company name. The fields with a gray background can not be changed because TecCom stores and uses the fixed values.

After you have made any changes, send them to TecCom by clicking on “Report”. To see your current entries used by TecCom click on “Request”.
Under “Change Password” you can change the password used to authorize your company by the TecCom network. This does not affect the individual user passwords to start TecLocal. In order to change you need both an old and a new password of at least six characters. A secure password includes a combination of capitals, small letters and numbers. After you have made the change click on OK to send it to TecCom. Then wait at least ten minutes for the TecCom database to update itself with the new password. If you cannot remember your old password, contact TecCom support to receive a new one. Do not delete your password under “Delete Password”. Depending on your local settings, this can cause functional problems for your TecLocal.

Compress your local database and compress your application database
With these functions you can reduce the size of your TecCom databases in order to optimize them and get better performance from your TecLocal. If you want to do this, be sure that no other user is logged in to TecLocal. The compression of the local database reduces the size of your computer-related data such as catalog settings. The application database contains all process documents, including all your orders and inquiries, the outbound journal and the supplier reverse messages.
Compression also serves to delete data completely. If you delete old inquiries and orders in your outbound journal, you need to compress the database to get performance benefits from TecLocal. This is because the compression of the application database is the step that completely eliminates the entries from the system.
